Got a foot of snow made it down one pass with the Bolens 1253 and heard a bang and a terrible grinding , quickly turned off the pto and went back to the garage , after I traced the issue to the gearbox I found a mess inside . Roll pin somehow either slipped out or disentigrated taking out the two gears . Thought of rebuilding but I think 50 years of service is good enough so plan to re-use the long shaft but build a new gearbox with all new shafts and internals .
